The super mario 64 iceberg is a common one and Ive found this video talking about everything on the iceberg, but it doesnt really explain what an iceberg is, and google isnt giving me much help. The Wario Apparition is a Super Mario 64 creepypasta that circulated online as a meme in 2020, inspiring various fanmade screenshots and animations. This ROM hack captures the feeling of playing through what a dream version of SM64 is perfectly and I spent hours just exploring a lot of the different rooms and areas this ROM hack has to offer and yet I still haven't even scratched the surface as the amount of areas to explore is massive. Here's another video that covers the "Mario 64 Iceberg," an image somebody posted about Mario 64 mysteries and curiosities, which some people think is related to the ARG, since it and stuff about the Wario apparition appeared on the same day: The 64 DS Iceberg: Deep DIVE Explained (Feat. The guy is doing kind of an annoying "spooky" voice, though, so apologies for that: Here's a good video breaking it all down. There's a ton of screenshots and video of it on YouTube from various different uploaders. The big motif here (like the Elegy of Emptiness statue in Ben Drowned) is the "Wario Apparition," a giant floating Wario head that allegedly appears in the portal to Dire Dire Docks. There's also some stuff about a beta of the game from 1995 that people are urged to NOT RESEARCH. The basic idea is that there's some kind of secret algorithm/AI in Mario 64 that subtly customizes the game to suit each player, which is why playing someone else's copy of Mario 64 always feels a little bit off. So there's a cool new gaming creepypasta that's been popping up on 4chan, Reddit, and YouTube lately: personalized Mario 64, or "Every copy of Mario 64 is personalized." Nobody knows if it's the usual brand of spoopy internet horseshit or if it's building up to some kind of ARG, like Ben Drowned.
